New Puppets for Rich to Play with
Posted by jeff in Statewide
RECENT UPDATES!!!!
These are all the contributions that have come in since the $570,000 that was funneled during the primaries. As you will see there are new candidates on Rich’s puppet list that he has already started to bankroll thousands of dollars to. We are currently in the blackout period so we will try our best to keep our eye out on the flow of shady money. It is a 95% sure, safe bet that any candidate that has Rich money who has an opponent, will be receiving more of Rich’s money during the blackout period.

Only one SC House member took more money from Howard Rich than Mick Mulvaney did in 2006. Mulvaney got $9,000 from Rich and at least another $11,000 from Rich’s associates, and won the general election by 209 votes. But now that word is getting around about Mr. Rich, Mulvaney is distancing himself and has vowed to take no more funds from him. - Ross Shealy
Mulvaney is still 100% pro voucher and I would not be surprised if he did start receiving contributions in the blackout period.
Here are some inserts from an article that came out in the Herald on Oct. 15 entitled “Mulvaney, Powers-Norrel Debate School Vouchers, Economic Development.”
“Our public schools are not perfect,” Norrell said. “But nobody can convince me that taking money away from our public schools and giving it to private schools is the answer.”
Mulvaney has argued that vouchers should be considered as one option for improving South Carolina’s low-performing school districts.
“Let’s focus on the kids who are not being served,” he said. “There are kids getting ready to graduate who have never been in a school that meets state standards. I’m open for all suggestions.”
We obviously agree with Mandy and furthermore we know that her position on vouchers is pure and not because somebody gave her money to think any differently. (aka “suggestions”)

This article shows us that Rich has just recently targeted Anne Peterson Hutto in HD 115. We need to act to make sure he does not succeed!
Howard Rich Shows Wallace Scarborough A Whole Lotta Love

Looks like Wallace Scarborough isn’t just providing service with a smile to the loan shark industry. He also appears to be a beneficiary of billionaire fanatic Howard Rich’s largesse.
Howie is continuing his efforts to skirt South Carolina campaign finance law by funneling $9000 in contributions to Scarborough through various shell corporations and associates:
123 Lasalle Associates A Partnership 09/23/2008 1,000.00
123 Lasalle Inc. 09/29/2008 1,000.00
188 Claremont LLC 09/04/2008 1,000.00
332 E 11 LLC A Partnership 09/15/2008 1,000.00
405 49 Associates 09/14/2008 1,000.00
4220 Broadway Inc. 09/08/2008 1,000.00
4220 Broadway LLC 09/30/2008 1,000.00
Joseph Stillwell 09/15/2008 1,000.00
Paul R. Farago 09/04/2008 1,000.00
Rich has gained fame for his underhanded attempts to influence South Carolina elections by funding candidates who support his risky private school voucher plan. Rich supports diverting public school funding to private academies, as well as threatening organizations who oppose him.<,a>
Today, Anne Peterson Hutto, Scarborough’s opponent in the November 4th election, made the following statement:
“This is just another example of bad judgment by Wallace Scarborough. People on James Island and Folly Beach don’t want their representative making deals with characters like Howard Rich that would hurt our public and charter schools, Peterson Hutto said. “I’ll say NO to people like Howard Rich, I’ll fight for our public and charter schools and I’ll put people over special interests groups.”

In his own words - Rich “interview” with Katon Dawson, Chairman of the SC Republican Party.
Part two of Dawon interview.
This video was produced in Montana in their efforts to stop Howard Rich.
